“Jaime,” diye fısıldadı Brienne, sesi o kadar hafifti ki Jaime rüya gördüğünü düşündü.
“Jaime, ne yapıyorsun?”
“Ölüyorum,” diye yanıtladı Jaime aynı fısıltıyla.
“Hayır,” dedi kız, “hayır yaşamalısın.” Jaime gülmek istedi.
“Bana ne yapmam gerektiğini söylemekten vazgeç fahişe. Canım isterse ölürüm.”
“O kadar korkak mısın?”
Kelime Jaime’yi sarstı. O Jaime Lannister’dı, Kral Muhafızlarnın şövalyesiydi, Kral Katili’ydi. Ona daha önce kimse korkak dememişti. Başka şeyler söylemişlerdi, evet; yemin bozan, yalancı, katil. Onun zalim olduğunu söylemişlerdi, tehlikeli, pervasız. Ama asla korkak değil.
“Ölmekten başka ne yapabilirim?”
“Yaşa,” dedi kız, “yaşa, savaş ve intikam al.” Ama fazla yüksek sesle konuşmuştu. Rorge, kızın kelimelerini değilse bile sesini duymuştu. Geldi ve lanet olası dilinin kesilmesini istemiyorsa susmasını söyleyerek kızı tekmeledi
