Eric Bischoff, Mart 2001'de FMV ile anlaşmayı sona erdirebildi. FMV'nin kurucusu Brian Bedol, WCW'nun yeni sahibi olurken Bischoff, WCW başkanı olarak işin booking kısmında yer aldığı görevine döndü. Time Warner Nitro'yu iptal etti ama Bischoff, FX ile olan kontratını sonlandırmayı başardı (Bischoff'a göre işin gerçeği, FX Nitro ile ilgilendiği, ama Bischoff'un onlara Thunder'ı teklif etmesi üzerine anlaşmanın sona erdiğidir.) Big Bang etkinliği WCW'a yeni bir era için kapıları açacaktır.​
